Privacy policy

Who is responsible

metrique (metrique.app) is run by PO4 seiler + den hartog architekten GmbH, Zwinglistrasse 6a, CH-8004 Zürich, Switzerland. Please send questions about data protection and requests about your data to mail@metrique.app or to this address.

Principle

We only process the data needed to run metrique. There is no tracking, no advertising, no analytics or marketing cookies, and we do not sell data.

Using metrique without an account

Without an account, your projects stay in your browser's storage (localStorage) and are not sent to us. The map position for addresses you enter is also remembered in the browser.

When you visit the website, our server processes technically necessary information such as IP address, time, requested page and browser type. It is used to deliver the pages, for security and for troubleshooting, and is not combined with other data.

Account and sign-in

For an account we store your e-mail address. You sign in with a link sent by e-mail; there is no password. After signing in we set a technically necessary session cookie (valid for 30 days). To keep your account secure we store the IP address and browser identifier of each session.

Pro: saved projects

With Pro, your projects are saved in your account so that they are available on all your devices – with all inputs, the parcel taken over including its geometry, the ÖREB extract and the details from the building regulations.

We do not look at project contents. To run the service we only evaluate aggregated figures (e.g. number of projects, features used, cantons); municipalities only appear once projects from three different accounts lie there. Exception: you ask us to look at a specific project to fix a problem.

Payment

Payments for Pro are handled by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland). Card details are held only by Stripe; we receive none of them. We store the Stripe customer number, the subscription status and the end of the billing period. Stripe may also transfer data to the USA; Stripe's privacy policy applies (stripe.com/privacy).

Geodata and public services

Your browser loads maps and the address search directly from the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo (geo.admin.ch). swisstopo receives your IP address and the search term you enter.

Our server requests parcels, ÖREB extracts, terrain, buildings and roads from federal and cantonal services (e.g. geo.admin.ch, cantonal ÖREB cadastres, geodienste.ch). Only coordinates or the parcel identifier (E-GRID) are sent, no information about you.

Reading building regulations with AI (Pro)

For “Read from BZO”, our server downloads the municipality's public building and zoning regulations and has them read by the AI service Claude from Anthropic (Anthropic PBC, USA). Only this public document is sent, no information about you or your project. Only when you create an “AI assessment” yourself does our server send that project's figures (areas, volume, costs, rent, site details such as canton, zone, noise or radon) – without the project name, address, parcel number or anything about you. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train models. We log every AI request (time, account, kind, for regulations the municipality and document, outcome, cost) to account for the AI credit and to prevent misuse; the entries are deleted after 12 months.

We store the result per document and reuse it for all users. For each account we count the number of reads and the tokens used, to keep track of the monthly limit and the costs.

Feedback

If you send us feedback, we store the message, the chosen kind, the app version and – if you allow it – the path of the current page without project identifier, together with your e-mail address so that we can reply.

E-mails

We send sign-in links and confirmations through our e-mail provider. We do not send newsletters or advertising.

Hosting

metrique runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH in a data centre in the EU. The database and the application are on this server.

Transfers abroad

Data only goes abroad to the providers named above: Hetzner (EU), Stripe (EU, possibly USA) and Anthropic (USA, public documents and, at your request, a project's figures without personal data). The EU provides adequate data protection; for the USA the providers rely on the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

  • Account, projects, feedback and usage data: until you delete your account. They are then removed from the database immediately; backups are overwritten in the regular cycle.
  • We may delete feedback earlier once it has been dealt with.
  • Server logs: only as long as needed for operation and security.
  • Invoices and payment records: at Stripe for the statutory retention period (10 years in Switzerland).

Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you, have incorrect data corrected, and have your data deleted or handed over in a common format. You can delete your account with all its data yourself at any time under “Account”. For anything else, an e-mail to mail@metrique.app is enough.

You can also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch). Where the EU GDPR applies, you also have the rights it provides, including a complaint to the supervisory authority of your country of residence.

Changes

When metrique changes, we update this policy. The version published here applies.
